Ever needed to download torrents and was unable to find an app on Apple App Store. Don’t worry today your problem will be solved.Just follow the instructions. Torrent Client free download - Free Torrent Download, VPN Gate Client Plug-in with SoftEther VPN Client, Vuze BitTorrent Client, and many more programs.

The iOS ecosystem could be rather bumpy for a pirate, with the whole system having rigid and strict measures against illegal traffic of media. However, this does not mean you cannot download your favorite shows or HD movies; it just means that you might need this guide to show you the best working torrent apps for your iPhone or another iOS device.

It is always good practice to install a VPN when accessing and downloading files, and you may want to install an ad-blocker too as some of these seedy sites may have advertisements and pop-up that, apart from being nagging and irritating, might lead to malicious websites. Now let’s get on with the six best torrent apps for iPhone right now.

µTorrent Remote

µTorrent is arguably the most popular BitTorrent client in the world and for a good reason. It’s straight-forward and intuitive UI coupled with really impressive download speeds (given a good connection of course) make this a ridiculously good torrent app.

The bad news is, there is no native app for µTorrent on iOS. This is probably due to the strict regulation of such apps in the Apple ecosystem. However, there is a relatively easy workaround for this, an official workaround no less, in the form of µTorrent Remote. You can think of it as unfettered access to µTorrent, allowing you to add, start, stop and monitor downloads right on your iPhone. This means that you need to have µTorrent running on your PC or Mac though.

To set up µTorrent Remote on your iOS device of choice, follow the steps outlined below:

  • Navigate to http://remote.utorrent.com/ on your Safari browser.
  • Choose the ‘Share’ button, right there at the bottom where you usually add bookmarks.
  • Click on ‘Add to Home Screen’ to add the µTorrent icon on your iPhone’s home page.
  • On your PC or MacOS, launch µTorrent and access preferences.
  • Select the ‘Remote’ tab then check ‘Enable µTorrent Remote.’
  • You’ll be prompted to fill in a computer name and password.
  • Select ‘Sign in’
  • On your iOS device, launch the µTorrent Remote web icon from your home screen and enter the same credentials you chose on your computer.

That’s it! You can now enjoy the new µTorrent for iOS experience, allowing you to manage torrent downloads on the move.

iTransmission

If you’ve been looking into the Torrents scene, then you’ve probably heard of Transmission, a hugely popular BitTorrent client on MacOS. Enter iTransmission! This is the native BitTorrent client for iOS using the same backend as Transmission. It allows you to get the full, desktop-like torrent download and seeding experience right there on your mobile iOS device.

Unsurprisingly, the app is not available on the official App Store, so save your time and don’t even go checking. However, there are relatively easy alternative download options.

If you’re running a jailbreak on your iOS device, then by far the easiest download option would be to get iTransmission for free from Cydia. But if you’re not running a jailbreak, and you don’t want to, then two other options are available to you.

First, you can find a third-party app store that would be offering iTransmission; we, however, don’t recommend this method due to additional adware and bloatware that some app-stores couple with their apps and other reliability concerns.

What we recommend is downloading the iTransmission IPA, firing up Cydia Impactor and sideloading the app unto your iOS device. For a walkthrough and guide to Cydia Impactor, check out our introductory article covering all things involving sideloading apps using Cydia Impactor.

Seedr.cc

When you acquire a torrent file or a magnet link, you can proceed with downloading whatever music, movies or files you need unto your iOS device using this widely popular web-app. Seedr.cc provides file storage for up to 2GB for free but also allows you to earn additional storage up to a 5GB limit. This alone makes it stand head and shoulders above any other torrent web-app for iOS.

You can proceed with the download by acquiring either the torrent file or the magnet URL link from your favorite torrent site. If you’ve chosen to copy the location of the magnet link, head to Seedr.cc by typing “seedr.cc” on the Safari browser URL bar. Once the site loads, paste the torrent magnet URL where you’re prompted with the instruction ‘Paste torrent URL’ and wait for Seedr to fetch it.

If you downloaded the torrent file, then you need to note where it is saved on your iOS device. You can do this by choosing the ‘More’ option after you tap on the Download button and then choosing ‘Save to Files’ in the resulting pop-up window, you can then choose where you want to save your file, including your iCloud Drive. Note, however, that the ‘Save to Files’ pop-up is only available on iOS 11 and newer.

Next, you’ll need to upload the file to Seedr.cc. To do this, open seddr.cc on your Safari browser and tap the plus (+) icon next to the textbox and choose ‘Upload,’ then ‘Browse’ and navigate to the torrent file that you saved. Whatever method you use, seedr.cc should start downloading your torrent at this point. This is all done in the background, and you can even close the browser window as you wait for the download to complete.

Download speeds are significantly dependent on the number and the quality of seeders, and sadly, seedr.cc doesn’t allow you to add another file if a download is in progress. When the download completes, the data is stored on the Seedr.cc servers, ready for you to download onto your device by tapping on the downward arrow and choosing the ‘Download’ option from the drop-down menu.

Zbigz

Zbigz is quite another reliable torrent web-app. The downside is, you’ll need to create a free account to access downloads of anything over a measly 100Mb. The app works very much like Seedr.cc’s magnet link method. You can proceed to initiate downloads through the steps below:

Copy the torrent magnet URL link on your favorite torrent site and navigate to ‘zbigz.com’ on Safari Browser.

Paste the copied link in the input field and then tap ‘GO.’

Zbigz will then generate a download link for you. Just click on the resultant download pop-up, and the download process will start.

BitTorrent Now

This torrent client is invaluable to a music-lover. BitTorrent allows you to explore and experience music and video from underground and obscure artists you might not have heard of yet. It also offers certain innovative features such as the ability to track trends in music, art or movies.

BitTorrent also allows you to show your appreciation to your favorite artists by availing the option to donate to support them, as well as the ability to stream music from independent, unsigned artists. You can also personalize your experience by signing in with your Facebook, Google or another social network. You can download BitTorrent Now for iOS from here.

Bitport.io

Bitport.io is another reliable and intuitive web-app torrent client for iOS. Bitport.io allows you to download torrents of any size at relatively high speeds anonymously onto a secure Bitport.io server. It achieves this anonymity by masking your IP address whenever you initiate a download.

Saving the files on a secure online server ensures that you have unfettered access to your data on any device and the multiple integrations supported by Bitport.io ensure compatibility with a vast number of devices. You can, however, choose to download the files from the Bitport.io server as a direct download onto your device to enjoy your media offline wherever and whenever. Just create an account from the official website and follow the steps of downloading using a magnet link described above.

Filestream.me

Filestream is a web-app torrent client for iOS that also places the user’s anonymity in consideration. It features a simple and intuitive UI and allows you to download torrent files and magnet links from the internet onto Filestream.me cloud storage for direct download to your iOS device.

The app offers support for over 900 media sites ensuring you’re not at a loss of options to choose from. It also includes certain innovative services such as the ability to transcode and stream your files to any compatible smartphones, tablets, PCs, TVs or DLNA and Apple Airplay devices and also the opportunity to earn from referrals to the site.

BitTorrent has been around for so many years and it’s still widely being used today. You can find a lot of things including the latest movies and TV series to download on a popular Torrent tracker websites like “The Pirate Bay” which the authorities can’t seem to permanently shut down. Downloading files using BitTorrent is usually done with client software such as uTorrent, Vuze, qBitTorrent or Tixati.

Every torrent client has its own distinct advantages and one very useful feature that is not commonly found is the ability to “stream” which is to start the playback without waiting for the whole file to complete downloading. Just like viewing online videos on YouTube, you get to start watching right away and that saves you a lot of time.

If you’d like to stream a video or movie file from a torrent without waiting for it to download first, here we have 10 options that allow you to do that for free.

Best Torrent Client Iphone1. WebTorrent Desktop

WebTorrent has fast become one of the best ways to stream torrents and especially videos online. Because it uses WebRTC to exchange data, you will connect with other WebTorrent enabled torrent services or clients and not standard Bittorrent. WebTorrent should still provide good video streaming.

WebTorrent Desktop is an open source torrent client and is dedicated to streaming video and audio. A big advantage of this program is it accepts connections from both WebTorrent and BitTorrent which means you should be able to stream at the best possible speeds. WebTorrent Desktop is available for Windows, Mac and Linux.

After launching WebTorrent Desktop all you have to do is drop a torrent file onto the window, press Ctrl+V or go to Edit > “Paste Torrent Address” to add a magnet link. Some free videos are already in the main window for you to test. Press the Play button to open the video window and wait for the video to start. A red bar at the bottom will show the buffer status. If the torrent has multiple video files you can click on it and select to play a specific video.

WebTorrent Desktop won’t directly play all content (such as H265) and if it tries to stream an unsupported video you will be given the option to use an external player. VLC is the default option but something else can be chosen in preferences. Popular players like MPC-HC/BE and Daum PotPlayer will also work. Streaming to AirPlay, Chromecast and DLNA is also supported.

2. Soda Player

Soda Player is a torrent video streaming player that claims to be able to handle all video formats, including the likes of H265 and DTS. Theoretically, you shouldn’t find a video it can’t play. It also has a built in proxy to help with privacy and ISP torrent throttling. This feature is free at the time of writing but is planned to be a paid option going forward.

On launch, Soda Player will accept dropping a torrent file or magnet link onto the window, browsing for a torrent file manually or pasting in a magnet/torrent URL. If there’s a link in the clipboard it will be automatically added. The video will start once enough of it has been downloaded, a marker on the play progress line will show how much has been buffered.

In addition to playing subtitles that are already included with the torrent or video file, Soda Player can automatically download extra subtitles from Opensubtitles.org. There’s support for multiple audio streams as well as the ability to cast the video to Chromecast or Apple TV.

Download Soda Player

An alternative player we tried was Powder Player. It works and looks good but it did seem to stop and buffer the same torrents far more than Soda Player did. There are settings to control things like buffer length but it didn’t help. It may work better for you and is worth keeping in mind as a streaming player.

3. Instant.io / Magnet Player

These two websites are grouped together because they both stream video online from a webpage using WebTorrent instead of BitTorrent. They are very easy to use and require no external tools, however, there are a few drawbacks as opposed to using the WebTorrent Desktop client.

The online services that use WebTorrent do not have the ability to accept both WebTorrent and BitTorrent connections like the desktop client, which potentially means fewer available peers. All you have to do is paste a magnet link/info hash into the box or add a .torrent file, a video window will open on the page and begin playing once enough data has been buffered.

Instant.io and Magnet Player cannot play formats like MKV, AVI or H265 and if you try to play a video with an unsupported format, nothing will happen. They’re fine with H264, AAC and MP4 though so something like YIFY (YTS.am) releases should play quite well.

4. Webtor

Webtor is different from the online WebTorrent services above because it uses standard BitTorrent. It also has an advantage in what can be played and what can’t. In addition to H264 and MP4, major formats like MKV and AVI are supported along with the increasingly popular H265. If the video format in the torrent is not natively supported by your browser it will be automatically transcoded for playback.

All you have to do is click “Open torrent online” to browse for a torrent file or click the arrow and paste a magnet link into the box. Once the torrent has been parsed, hover over the video file and press the play button. Pressing the download button instead will start the file downloading in your browser like a normal file. After a short wait, it will begin playing.

There are some very useful features available in the web player options menu (cog wheel) such as allowing you to select audio and subtitle streams, although we couldn’t get that to work. The copy stream URL button can be used to copy and then paste the link into video playing software like MPC-HC, PotPlayer or VLC. There’s also a Cast button to send the stream to a Chromecast device.

A Webtor Chrome extension is available that will open a clicked torrent/magnet link directly in Webtor.

5. qBitTorrent

Some standard torrent clients have the ability to download torrent videos in such a way that they can be played while being downloaded. The required feature is being able to download torrent data in sequential order. Some clients can do this like Tixati and uTorrent, but the tool we will look at here is qBitTorrent.

Apart from the sequential download option, qBitTorrent has an option to download the start and end pieces of the file first (to help with compatibility) and also to launch the video in an external player from its UI. All you have to do is add a torrent to qBitTorrent in the normal way and check the “Download in sequential order” and “Download first and last pieces first” boxes before starting the torrent.

You can also select those options later by right clicking on the torrent in the list. Watch the progress bar of the torrent and when a sizeable continuous chunk of the start has been downloaded (10%+), right click and select Preview File. This will launch the video in the system default video player. Make sure there are no gaps in the first block of the video in the progress bar or it won’t play properly because there’s missing data.

Another way of launching the video which will work on qBitTorrent, uTorrent, Tixati and other compatible torrent clients is to simply open the downloading video file in your favorite video player.
